At the Tokyo Motor Show 2017, Nissan vans have unveiled an all-electric Nissan e-NV200 Concept fridge van!
Nissan e-NV200 Fridge van concept
Designed as a solution to reach the urban deliveries that larger refrigerated vans cannot access due to a number of potential restrictions, including size or emissions, the Nissan e-NV200 fridge van concept makes zero emission chilled deliveries a real possibility.
The unveiling of the fridge van concept, follows the unveiling last month by Nissan vans of the new Nissan e-NV200 van, with a range boosted to a staggering 174 miles. Combine this range with a 4.2 cubic metre load volume and you already have a practical solution for a number of urban deliveries. The addition of the fridge van concept now gives easy access for businesses offering chilled deliveries, however the additional battery may reduce the load volume slightly.
The new van will be a completely customised model of the Nissan e-NV200 van, with a separate 12KwH battery to power the refrigeration unit. The addition of the separate battery ensures that there is no concern about the additional power load reducing the range of the new van.
Nissan vans have outlined the compact size of the e-NV200 fridge van concept in making it easier to access more narrow streets and park the new van in the tightest of loading areas. As stated previously, the additional battery may reduce the load volume slightly but the capability of carrying chilled items may outweigh the negatives of a small loss of load volume for the majority of businesses with these requirements.
Ashwani Gupta, senior vice president of the collaboration between Renault vans and Nissan vans is enthusiastic about the new van creation:
"The Nissan e-NV200 fridge van concept will create huge value for commercial users, generating more business as well as reducing the cost of ownership. With zero emissions, it'll be perfect for busy urban environments where larger vans are often prohibited."
Unveiling of the fridge van concept coincides with the London T-charge zone coming into effect this week and with further restrictive measures planned in the next few years, an all-electric cold delivery solution is likely to prove the new van of choice for a number of delivery businesses.
In conjunction with the Nissan e-NV200 fridge van concept, Nissan vans will also unveil a new Paramedic van concept. The Paramedic concept will also use a separate battery to power the additional equipment in the new van, in this case in the form of life-saving medical equipment when patients are in more remote and more difficult to access areas or in the need of emergency assistance.
