New Citroen Berlingo - everything you need to know
The new Citroen Berlingo van has won a multitude of awards since joining the small vans market at the start of 2019, including the most prestigious of them all, International Van of the Year 2019. Vansdirect takes a look at the features that make the new Citroen van a cut above its competition!
Soon there'll be a fourth sibling from Toyota vans based on these award winners, showing the formula from Citroen vans, Peugeot vans and Vauxhall vans is clearly a successful one. The new Citroen van is a product of a new modular chassis and the rear end from its predecessor, meaning a load volume which has been unaltered from the previous model, whilst the front end has been modified significantly, let's take a closer look!

Exterior changes for the new Citroen van are easy to spot, taking inspiration from the Citroen passenger cars range, whilst also appearing like a shrunk down version of the new Citroen Dispatch medium van as a result of sharing a platform. The new front end appears more attractive and professional than its predecessor with large lights and a more upright and short bonnet.

The Interior of the new Citroen Berlingo van has also been transformed, it is incredibly spacious as well as comfortable and well put together. There's two and three seater options available, with the centre seat in three seater models available to use as a handy fold-down table. The model pictured is a high spec Enterprise model which means an 8-inch colour touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard, as well as handy features including steering mounted controls, rear parking sensors, 2 USB ports and cruise control, not forgetting front fog lights and air conditioning.
How much can the new Citroen Berlingo van carry?
There are two lengths of new Citroen Berlingo van available M and XL, the model pictured was the shorter of the two, M and offers 3.3 cubic metres of load volume, which could be extended courtesy of the optional extensor modular folding passenger bench seat with load through facility beneath the outer seat allowing loads up to 3.1 metres in length can be accommodated. Loading and unloading the van in tight spaces is made easy with a sliding side door.
What are the new Citroen vans like to drive?
The cabin of the new Citroen Berlingo van allows for a comfortable ride, whilst reduced noise also makes the Citroen van more refined than previously. The highly efficient 1.6-litre BlueHDi engine is incredibly economical as before, whilst offering no shortage of power and performance, with the ability to carry heavy loads. Supportive seating and a natural driving position make the Berlingo comfortable whilst on the move, this is also helped by the reach and rake adjustable steering wheel. The small van is also incredibly nimble and able to navigate the most challenging of streets, courtesy of the introduction of electric power steering and a plethora of driver assistance technologies.
