What are the benefits of a large electric van?

If you regularly carry lots of cargo and require ample load space, then a large electric van is the ideal choice for you. Some of the most popular vans in this segment include the Ford E-Transit which offers a maximum gross payload of up to 1,745kg.

Some of the benefits of choosing a large electric van include:

Minimal running and maintenance costs

Large electric vans have fewer moving parts than a petrol or diesel van making them cheaper to maintain. Electric vans are currently also exempt from road tax and this, along with no fuel costs, can dramatically reduce your running costs.

Low Emission Zone (LEZ) exemption

Air pollution is a major problem in cities and measures are in place to help address this. Across UK cities, low emission and Clean Air Zones (CAZ) are being introduced to tackle the most polluting cars and vans. If you drive a petrol or diesel van, you face a penalty charge driving through these areas. However, as large electric vans emit zero emissions, you are free to drive through these zones without any charges.

Government support

As electric vans can be more expensive to buy or lease than a petrol or diesel van, there is support available from the UK Government. This is to help drivers make the switch to electric and play their part to lower their emissions. With the Plug-in Van Grant (PiVG), you could be eligible for a grant of up to £5,000.
