Launched in 2012 and modified and face-lifted in 2017, the Isuzu D-Max is a tough pick-up van aimed at the most challenging of tasks. Vansdirect reviews the new Isuzu D-Max pick-up van!
Introduction to the Isuzu D-Max
As the only new van model available from Isuzu vans, the Japanese company has specialised in the development of an excellent pick-up van. The 2017 model is more of a face-lift than a complete overhaul of the Isuzu D-Max, with the addition of a new engine and a number of visual and equipment modifications to the new van to improve aesthetics, adhere to Euro 6 regulations and improve refinement.
Versatility of the Isuzu D-Max
The Isuzu D-Max is available in a number of different models, which not all of its pick-up van rivals may have available. For example, you can choose between single cab, extended cab and the most popular double cab models. Double cab models are available in no fewer than five trim levels: starting with Utility, then Eiger, Yukon, Utah and Top Spec Blade models.
Performance of the Isuzu D-Max
The D-Max is available with only one choice of engine, a Euro 6 compliant 1.9-litre diesel engine with an output of 164ps which doesn't require Adblue to reach Euro 6 regulations. The new engine delivers approximately 40Nm less torque than the 2.5-litre diesel it is replacing, however with new manual and automatic transmissions featuring shorter ratios, performance feels very similar to before. The D-Max also provides a high driving position for an excellent view of the road, whilst the D-Max performs the toughest of tasks with ease with its 3.5 tonne towing capacity!
Reliability and safety of the Isuzu D-Max
All models of the D-Max are fitted with ABS brakes, electronic stability control (ESC) and traction control as standard to enhance the safety of the new van. Isuzu have also re-designed the front bumper and bonnet for improved crash protection. Inside the cab, most basic Utility models are fitted with a range of safety equipment, including: dual front, side and curtain airbags and height-adjustable seatbelts for maximum seat occupant protection. 4x4 selection on the move is also available for four-wheel-drive models, whereas all models get hill start assist and descent control.
Features of the Isuzu D-Max
Even the most basic of the D-Max models come well equipped with modern technology, Utility models have standard features including: bluetooth, air conditioning, LED daytime running lights and electric windows. Eiger trim models gain standard features including: reversing camera alloy wheels, body coloured bumpers and a CD player. Moving up to Yukon spec rewards you with: 18-inch alloys, seven-inch touchscreen display, leather steering wheel and cruise control. Utah models gain: keyless go, satellite navigation, apple CarPlay & Android Auto, DAB radio and leather heated seats. Top Spec Blade models get an upgraded 9-inch screen, automatic climate control, tinted windows and so much more!
The Isuzu D-Max is a tough and durable new pick-up van that exudes refinement and quality.
