The Fiat Fullback Cross is a bold and attractive top spec pick-up based on the excellent Mitsubishi L200, today at Vansdirect we got hands on with one!
Fiat Fullback Cross
Introduction
Despite being one of the newest pick-up trucks on the market, Fiat vans announced earlier this year at the Commercial Vehicle Show 2019 that the Mitsubishi L200 based Fiat Fullback would be leaving the market as a result of Euro 6 diesel legislation. The Fiat Fullback is principally a rebranded and rebadged Mitsubishi L200, however that really only tells half the story, with the Cross model unlike anything else available in the pick-up truck market.
Exterior
The pick-up is based on the Mitsubishi L200 and the similarities are there for all to see, the primary design changes between the standard Fiat Fullback Cross pick-up and the Mitsubishi L200 is that of the grille and headlights which are new, whilst the lack of brickwork means the standard Fullback is less imposing than the Mitsubishi L200, this is certainly not the case for Cross models which certainly makes its presence felt!
Helping the pick-up stand out are 17-inch alloy wheels with chunk tyres and bold black styling which includes moody black sports steps, black mirrors, door handles and wheel arch extensions, silver skidplate-effect bumper and a sports bar on the roof! There's also a soft opening tailgate for convenience.
Interior
The Fiat Fullback Cross is a comfortable place to be, whether you're using the pick-up for business or personal use. The pick-up is equipped with 8-way power leather seating, with heating to the front seats and a leather steering wheel. There's also a raft of the latest technology, including a 7.1-inch infotainment system. Dual-zone climate control helps you keep the pick-up the perfect temperature however far off the beaten track you wish to travel.
Performance
No terrain is too tough for the Fiat Fullback Cross with special M&S tyres and an exclusive 4WD selector and rear differential locker. The pick-up is driven be a 2.4-litre turbodiesel engine with an output of 180ps and an impressive 430Nm of torque. The engine meets Euro 6 emissions standards without the requirement for a selective catalytic reduction system (SCR) and AdBlue tank, this and the fact it is built from aluminium reduces its weight and in turn improve the handling of the Fiat Fullback Cross.
The model we got our hands on came with a five-speed manual transmission, which offered a smooth drive on the road and excellent levels of performance off-road. The Fiat Fullback Cross can take on the most difficult of terrain with a maximum approach angle of 30 degrees, a 24-degree breakover angle and 45-degree side approach angle!
