Practical and reliable, the Toyota Proace Electric makes a sound choice if you’re looking for a large electric van to keep your business moving.
With two battery options available, the Toyota Proace Electric is flexible depending on your needs. You can choose from either a 50kWh or 75kWh battery, with each offering a different driving range.
The former will give you up to 142 miles (WLTP) electric range, which is plenty to get you from job to job with ease. If you need to go further, the 75kWh is ideal, offering a longer range of up to 205 miles (WLTP).
Whether you go for the smaller or the larger battery, you’re guaranteed power and performance. The 50kWh battery version achieves 0-62mph in a reasonably confident 12.1 seconds, while the 75kWh version does so in 13.3 seconds.
With automatic transmission, the Toyota Proace Electric glides smoothly and silently, making it a joy to drive. Whether you’re coursing down the motorway or inching your way through a traffic jam, you’re sure to enjoy a more relaxing journey.
There’s an Electronic Parking Brake which is handy for stop-start driving in the city, which also gives you enhanced legroom in the cabin.
Plus, with three driving modes, you can optimise performance depending on your preferences. There’s Normal mode for everyday use, Power for faster acceleration, and Eco for optimal driving range. This way, you can tailor each journey according to the workday.
The powerful electric motor enables instant torque and acceleration. Meaning you’ll notice much more of a response when you press on the accelerator.
Inside the Toyota Proace Electric, a comfortable, functional cabin awaits. The dark grey fabric seats provide all the support needed for a long workday, including adjustable lumbar support for the driver.
With the Smart Cargo system, you can enjoy complete flexibility, with three key features. These include a mobile office, upright folding front seat, and Smart Cargo load-through bulkhead.
Enjoy space for up to two passengers on the front bench when you need to carry members of your crew. Alternatively, when these are not occupied, you can fold down the table to create your own mobile office.
You can provide a handy place to store workday essentials. With under-seat storage solutions for you and your passengers.
Every business is different, and the Toyota Proace Electric understands this perfectly. With a range of customisation options available, you can create the perfect interior for your needs. From insulated side wall protection and anti-slip wood floor covers to cable storage bags and rubber floor mats.
Spacious and accommodating, the Toyota Proace Electric offers generous proportions. The medium version measures 4,959mm length x 2,204mm width x 1,899mm height.
The wheelbase measures 3,275mm, and it offers a load area volume of 5.8mᶾ with the Smart Cargo system.
In terms of storage, you’ll have up to 1,000kg of payload at your disposal with the 75kWh battery. The smaller 50kWh battery however offers a slightly higher payload of up to 1,226kg. It’s this version that also allows for a 1,000kg towing capacity.
Loading and unloading will be simple and efficient with practical rear door access and a low loading floor. The battery is also cleverly stored so as to avoid taking up any valuable load space you might need.

When you’re often on the go, it’s important that you can stay connected – a need the Toyota Proace Electric understands perfectly. The practical infotainment centre includes a 7” Pro Touch multimedia system, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Using this, you can pair your smartphone to access your favourite apps and music or navigation with just one tap. There’s also an 11kW onboard charger so you and your crew can keep devices fully charged for the workday.
In addition, you’ll be kept fully informed behind the wheel of your Proace Electric’s performance with the digital combimeter. This displays everything from power consumption and battery capacity to charging times, range, and more.
With a comprehensive safety system onboard, you can enjoy a smoother, safer drive without any surprises. This is thanks to a range of standard safety systems including Blind Spot Detection, parking sensors, and a rear-view monitor. It’s these that made it worthy of a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating, meaning you can drive with confidence.
As a testament to its high quality and reliability, the Toyota Proace Electric comes with a ten-year (100,000-mile) warranty.
Since it’s an electric van, you can expect lower servicing and maintenance costs thanks to fewer moving parts. Plus, you won’t have to pay any road tax or congestion charges as mentioned earlier.
It’s actually more affordable to run than the diesel version, with charging costs as low as 2.5p per mile on some energy tariffs*. By scheduling your charging to take place during off-peak times, you could save even more too.
If you’re looking for a large electric van that offers plenty of driving range and is affordable to run, then the Proace Electric could be ideal for you.

Easy charging is another priority when it comes to owning an electric van. That’s another box the Toyota Proace Electric has firmly ticked.
Using a 100kW charger, the 50kWh battery can be charged up to 80% in as little as 32 minutes. That’s enough time to enjoy a coffee or quick lunch break in between jobs.
Putting flexibility at the forefront, the Proace Electric can be charged in other ways depending on your needs. You can charge it up at home using a domestic home socket or wall box, or on the go at one of over 53,000 public charging stations.
Charging times will vary depending on the battery and speed of charger you use. For home charging, it’ll take around 14 hours for a full charge using a domestic home socket. Meaning if you want to charge from home, you’ll be better off using a wall-mounted box. These will drastically reduce the charging time to around 4 hours and 45 minutes – perfect for overnight charging.
The 75kWh battery admittedly takes longer to charge, taking 23 hours with a domestic socket, and seven hours using a wall-box. So, if you want to avoid long charging times, it might be worth settling for the smaller, less powerful 50kWh battery.
On the go, you’ll have access to a wide array of charging points – ranging from slow, fast, rapid, and ultra-rapid.
Every vehicle has its pros and cons, which is why we’ve highlighted the main ones to help you decide if the Proace Electric is for you:
Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Choice of power with two battery options (50kWh or 75kWh) | 75kWh battery takes a lot longer to charge |
Up to 205 miles range on a single charge with the larger 75kWh battery | Technology might come across quite basic |
Faster charging with 50kWh battery, up to 80% capacity in just 32 mins using a rapid 100kW charger | Only one trim and body length on offer |
Eligible for the government PiVG saving you up to £5,000 | Interior slightly smaller than that offered by similar rivals |
Zero emissions at the tailpipe meaning zero road tax or congestion charges to pay | Higher initial price point than diesel alternative |
As a large electric van, the Toyota Proace Electric has several competitors. These include the likes of the Ford E-Transit, Vauxhall Vivaro Electric, and many more.
Many of these offer more choices when it comes to body styles and trims. However, with its easy charging and convenient storage, it’s easy to see why the Proace Electric continues to hold its own.
