Peugeot e-Expert Electric Van Review 2024

A compact medium van prioritising convenience, the Peugeot e-Expert offers to maximise productivity.

Peugeot e-Expert driving range

The Peugeot e-Expert offers a 100% electric powertrain, with two battery options to choose from.

The 50kWh battery brings you up to 148 miles (WLTP) range, while if you need to go further, the 75kWh battery provides up to an impressive 211 miles (WLTP). Whichever you choose, you’re sure to have plenty of range for the everyday job.

Peugeot e-Expert performance, power and drive

As an electric van, the Peugeot e-Expert offers a more energetic, responsive drive. A 100kW electric motor enables instant power and 260Nm torque, making it quick off the mark. Reaching 0-62mph in around 13.1 seconds, it’s relatively nippy considering that it’s a large van.

It’s also much quieter than its diesel-powered version, meaning you’ll enjoy a more relaxing drive with no engine noise. With automatic transmission, you can wave goodbye to fussy gear changes. Plus, an electronic handbrake means you can sit back and relax in traffic, without worrying about rolling back.

Using the mode selector, you can switch between three different driving modes to maximise efficiency with each drive. Eco mode allows you to optimise your driving range, Normal is for everyday use, and Power enhances driving performance.

With an e-Toggle gearbox control, you’ll easily be able to switch between the Park, Reverse, Neutral, Drive and Brake functions. The electronic handbrake is also applied automatically, making it easy to use.

Overall, if you’re looking for an electric van that’s easy to drive and offers plenty of power, the Peugeot e-Expert scores well in this area.

Peugeot e-Expert cabin and interior

Inside the Peugeot e-Expert, a spacious, driver-oriented cockpit welcomes you. The step provides easy access to the driver’s seat, which is elevated to provide a better view of the road.

The comfortable, ergonomic set-up provides a car-like experience, with several handy storage compartments. As an option, the Moduwork swivelling table allows you to transform the cab into a mobile office at a moment’s notice. Perfect to rest your laptop on while you catch up on some admin.

As standard, it offers plenty of features for your comfort and convenience. With the Professional Premium+ trim, you’ll receive a heated driver’s seat and a dual-front passenger bench with under-seat storage. Other interior features include front door pockets, cup holders, storage trays and more.

Optional extras include the Moduwork bench seat, sliding side doors, and an insulated bulkhead with a glass window. These can also be added with the Asphalt Premium+ trim, providing greater modularity. With this trim, you’ll also get a rear parking camera to make manoeuvring even easier.

The cabin will offer ample room for up to two passengers in addition to the driver, while there’s plenty of room in the back for carrying equipment.

Peugeot e-Expert dimensions and load space

The Peugeot e-Expert is a compact van that still offers the space you need. It measures 4.6m length x 2.20m width x 1,910mm height. Dimensions may vary slightly depending on whether you choose the compact, standard, or long version.

Inside, you’ll have a load length of up to 4m with the Moduwork option, giving you plenty of space to store longer items. As for payload, you’ll have 1,226kg at your disposal with the e-Expert – slightly lower than the diesel version which offers 1,412kg.

Volume is also quite generous, with between 4.6mᶾ for the compact, 5.3mᶾ for the standard, and 6.1mᶾ for the long version. With the addition of the Moduwork option, the volume is increased to 5.1mᶾ, 5.8mᶾ, and 6.6mᶾ respectively.

This equates to up to three Euro pallets, meaning you’ll have plenty of space when it comes to cargo. Something that less equipped electric vans often compromise on to remain efficient.

Peugeot e-Expert technology

The Peugeot e-Expert is packed with practical technology to enhance both safety and driving enjoyment.

You’ll have a host of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) onboard to help keep both you and other road users safe. These include Electronic Stability Control, Hill Start Assist, ABS braking and more.

As for connectivity, you’ll get a 7” colour touchscreen, DAB radio, Bluetooth, plus Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality. The coffee break alert will encourage you to take a break after two hours on the road, which is handy if you forget to make the time.

With the Asphalt Premium+ trim, you’ll get Peugeot Connected 3D navigation with voice recognition, making it easier than ever to find your way. You’ll also get automatic connection via Peugeot Connect, bringing you access to a range of live services.

The specific instrument panel has been newly designed especially for the e-Expert, bringing you a 3.5” colour display matrix. From this, you can view essential driving information such as driving range, modes, and more.

The Peugeot e-Expert is well-equipped in the way of technology, offering practical, easy-to-use features to make driving a joy.

Peugeot e-Expert running cost and value

Owing to its high-quality craftsmanship the e-Expert comes with a two-year Peugeot warranty. For peace of mind, you’ll also get a battery warranty of up to eight years or 100,000 miles. This guarantees it will retain 70% of its charging capacity.

You may be surprised to know that the Peugeot e-Expert actually offers lower running costs than its diesel alternative. You can expect costs of around 2.1p per mile to run the electric version, reduced from 10.3p with the diesel van. *

As another great bonus, you’ll enjoy noticeable savings when it comes to everyday use. There will be no congestion zone charges to pay, and zero road tax which is sure to save you a great deal.

Plus, you’ll also notice savings when the time for servicing comes around. As an electric van, the Peugeot e-Expert contains fewer moving parts meaning there’s less wear and tear.

With only charging costs to worry about, these themselves can be reduced by scheduling charging during off-peak times. This will allow you to benefit from cheaper tariff rates, saving you a little extra with each charge!

Peugeot e-Expert charging

If you’re going to get an electric van, you want it to be easy to recharge since you’ll need to do this often. Thankfully, the Peugeot e-Expert has this area well covered.

The charging flap is located up front on the driver’s side making it easy to find. As for the process itself, there are several options for recharging. You can charge it from the comfort of your own home using a wall-mounted charging box or domestic socket. For quicker results, the wall box is recommended.

Alternatively, thanks to the UK’s network of over 53,000 public charging points, you’ll have plenty of options on the go. These comprise different types of chargers ranging from slow and fast to rapid and ultra-rapid, meaning you can be back on the road in no time.

Speaking of timings, this will vary depending on whether you go for the 50kWh or 75kWh battery. The smaller battery will of course be quicker to recharge. Peugeot provides a helpful overview for you to follow so you know which option will be best for you:

50kWh battery

75kWh battery

Clearly, you’re better off going for a fast DC charger, as this will allow you to regain up to 80% of capacity in 30-45 minutes. Or around the time it takes for a quick lunch break!

Peugeot e-Expert pros and cons

If nobody’s perfect, then neither are electric vehicles. They’ll each have their own pros and cons, so here are some of Peugeot e-Expert’s:

Pros Cons
Choice of two battery options (50kWh or 75kWh) Longer charging times with the larger battery
Up to 211 miles on a single charge with the 75kWh battery Offers less towing capability than the diesel model
Three driving modes help maximise efficiency and range Higher initial price point than non-electric alternatives
Included in the eligibility list for the government’s Plug-in Van Grant (PiVG) saving you up to £5,000 Interior space is more limited compared to similar models
Zero tailpipe emissions meaning zero road tax or congestion zone charges Limited trims on offer

Peugeot e-Expert rivals

Every van has its rivals, and the Peugeot e-Expert is no stranger to competition. It battles against the likes of the Mercedes-Benz eVito, Citroen e-Relay, Ford Transit E, and many more.

With its advanced technology and safety, plus clever storage, it’s easy to see why the Peugeot e-Expert remains a top choice for large electric vans.
