Deal of the day: Ford Transit L3H2 Trend

Deal of the day: Ford Transit L3H2 Trend

The Ford Transit needs no introduction. When it comes to vans, there is no bigger name. Having been around for over 50 years, the Transit remains one of, if not the most popular vans on the market.

According to Ford, the Transit range offers over 450 variants from panel vans to minibuses. The range starts at L2 H2 due to the smaller Transit Custom covering the L1 specification.

Today, we're going in-depth on a specific model - the L3H2 version, in 'Trend' trim.

The Ford Transit L3H2 Trend

There are two trim levels, 'Base' and 'Trend', which means that this van features a lot of added extras as standard. Imagine the 'bog-standard' version of a van, take its main features and give them a nice little upgrade.

For example, half cap wheel covers become full wheel covers. Day running lights become automatic headlights. The Radio becomes a CD Radio player and adds Ford's SYNC for complete connectivity and voice command controls. The glovebox becomes a lockable glovebox. You get the picture.

It doesn't end there. Choosing the Ford Transit in 'Trend' trim gives you a wide range of enhanced equipment. Starting with the exterior of the van, as well as the examples above you'll get electric and heated mirrors, front and rear parking sensors, static cornering lights, rain-sensing wipers and front fog lights.

So, it's safe to say that parking this version of the Transit is easier - and safer. You'll also benefit from better visibility at corners and junctions, and you'll never have to fiddle with the wiper stalk ever again!

Inside the cabin, Ford have added a touch of sophistication with leather trim on the gearknob and steering wheel. There's a dual passenger seat with underseat storage and a fold out table (standard on all models) - which means that completing paperwork on the go is a little more convenient. You also get cruise control with a speed limiter, making those long-haul motorway journeys that little bit more comfortable. With the inclusion of a speed limiter you get extra control and peace of mind when it comes to speeding fines.

In the load area, you'll find a full steel bulkhead and load-securing points to protect both your passengers and your cargo (standard on all models). The load area itself provides a usable volume of 11.5 cubic metres, capable of accommodating loads up to 3494mm in length and 1886mm in height - or four euro pallets. The L3H2 Transit can carry a total payload of 1364kg.

In terms of accessibility, there's a passenger side sliding door with an aperture of 1300mm as well as rear doors that open to 180 degrees - if that's not wide enough, we don't know what is!

This particular model has a 2.2-litre TDCi diesel engine with a maximum power output of 125PS which delivers 350Nm of torque - enough to cope with the heaviest loads. Ford's official economy figures have the 125PS engine delivering 36.2mpg on the combined cycle. Not bad for a large van.
