Out with the old, in with the new is the approach of UK van drivers when it comes to their health choices in 2025, according to a study from Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles.
Volkswagen questioned 1,000 van drivers on a range of topics regarding their health and wellbeing, including eating habits, exercise and general mental health.
The overwhelming majority revealed they were looking to make improvements for the new year, with 86% stating they planned to adopt a healthier approach to life.
Diet was a key area for improvement, with 65% insisting they would look to take on a healthier diet, with a large percentage of people questioned having previously chosen the likes of fast food or shop bought meal deals when on the road.
More than half of those questioned fell short of the recommended levels of physical exercise and will be looking to improve on that during 2025, with 38% seeking a better work/life balance to better their mental health.
Six out of ten respondents had revealed that they felt overwhelmed by work, down in part to increased working hours that made it more difficult to focus on themselves.
“Prioritising health and fitness can be a real challenge, particularly when you’re on-the-go or working long hours, so it’s great to see so many van drivers making this a priority for the year ahead,” Craig Cavanagh, National Fleet Manager and Mental Health First Aider at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, said.
“We’re all aware of the positive impact that a healthy diet can have on our mood and mental wellbeing, and with an alarming number of van drivers concerned about work-life balance and looking to prioritise better mental health, these efforts are even more essential to help van drivers stay in good physical and mental shape.”
