Toyota Proace van review

Toyota Proace van review

The Toyota Proace is a brand-new medium van developed alongside the new Citroen Dispatch and Peugeot Expert, so each of the three models is based on the same body and dimensions - although the Proace comes with a five-year 100,000 mile warranty. The three models shared the LCV of the Year gong in the recent WhatVan! Awards.

With low running costs, a comfortable drive and a maximum payload of 1400kg, the Toyota Proace is a compact van with huge potential. No matter which version you choose you're guaranteed a stylish working van which is ideal for those on a budget.

It's available in three body sizes, compact, medium and long and as a panel van, crew cab or 9-seater combi. Access to the load bay is very convenient, with twin sliding side doors. The rear doors open to 250 degrees, complementing the side access apertures nicely.

Toyota Proace dimensions

Load volumes range from 5.1 cubic metres to 6.6 cubic metres with load lengths ranging from 3.3 to 4metres. A low sill height makes loading easy, however with no high roof option the load height is restricted to just 1.4 metres. The Toyota Proace can tow up to 2.5-tonnes with a braked trailer, depending on your model.

Just like the Dispatch and Expert, the Toyota Proace has been awarded a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating. Included are a number of safety-focused implementations like hill-start assist, stability control and tyre pressure monitoring. Other features like the innovative head-up display are optional.

Toyota Proace economy

Offered with two diesel engines - 1.6-litre or 2.0-litre - the Toyota Proace has power outputs of 95ps, 115ps or 122ps and a maximum fuel economy of 54.3mpg. The 95ps unit produces 210Nm and returns up to 51.4mpg.

It's well-refined and handles well, with responsive steering and a quiet comfortable cabin. The Proace has retained the low overall height of its predecessor - at 1.9m it can even access restricted areas like underground car parks.

Included with all models is a decent level of standard equipment like a dual passenger seat, Bluetooth, digital radio, cruise control and a full steel bulkhead with load-through flap.
