Toyota Proace City van gets world debut at CV Show 2019
There's a new small van joining the market based on none other than International Van of the Year 2019 winning trio the Citroen Berlingo, Peugeot Partner and Vauxhall Combo. Introducing the Toyota Proace City van!
Toyota Proace City
Toyota vans have officially revealed their new small van based on the Citroen Berlingo, Peugeot Partner and Vauxhall Combo. Vansdirect were at the CV Show 2019 to take a closer look at the new addition to the Toyota vans range.
Joining the Toyota range below the Toyota Proace medium van, the Toyota Proace City already has a recipe for success, judging on the award winning vans which it is based upon. The Citroen Berlingo, Peugeot Partner and Vauxhall Combo vans all have a reputation for being excellent to drive whilst being loaded with all of the latest technology.
The Toyota Proace City follows the pattern set by the Citroen Berlingo and Vauxhall Combo small vans, meaning it features an interior which is pretty much identical and largely the same exterior, apart from changes to give it a clear Toyota brand identity at the front of the small van.
The Peugeot Partner gets its unique i-Cockpit cab design and rear lights which are bespoke.
What versions of the Toyota Proace City van will be available?
As is the case for its sister vans from Citroen vans, Peugeot vans and Vauxhall vans, the Toyota Proace City small van is available in two different wheelbases and body lengths. Short-wheelbase models are simply labelled 'short' and are 4.4-metres in length, whilst long-wheelbase models are simply labelled 'long' and measure 4.7-metres in length. Both models are available with three seats, whilst the long model is also available as a crew van as well as a panel van.
There will also be a passenger carrying version of the Proace city van available labelled the Toyota Proace City Verso, these come with up to seven seats and are available in both short and long body lengths.
What engines will be available in the Toyota Proace City van?
Toyota vans have been quite vague in this area, all that they have revealed is that power output will range between 75ps and 130ps. There will be both petrol and diesel engines available, combined with five or six-speed manual transmissions or an eight-speed automatic. We'd expect these to mirror the Citroen Berlingo, Peugeot Partner and Vauxhall Combo vans as well.
Features
There will be a host of safety technology included as standard on the Toyota Proace City van range, including: a pre-collision system, road sign assist, lane keep assist, cruise control and driver tiredness detection. These features can be upgraded further with two additional safety packages, the first adds automatic high beam headlights, sway warning and extended road sign assist. The second package adds adaptive cruise control and blindspot monitor.
An 8.0-inch infotainment system also features, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, this can be upgraded with built-in satellite navigation with TomTom traffic information. There's also the option of a head-up display.
