After the recent release of the first new images of the Volkswagen Amarok pickup, the German manufacturer has published full details on the new pick-up.
Despite appearing to be a facelifted version of the current model, the new Amarok pick-up's changes are significant. The biggest modification is a latest-generation, high-performance V6 turbodiesel engine that replaces the current model's 2.0-litre twin turbo power unit.
The Euro 6 compliant 3.0-litre unit is available with an eight-speed automatic transmission delivering 163PS, 204PS or 224PS. The most powerful version, which returns a fuel economy of 37mpg and produces 550Nm of torque, goes on sale first before the end of the year.
The new Amarok's other features include a Servotronic steering system for more precise driving, 17-inch brake discs on the front axle, with 16 inch discs at the rear. Volkswagen's award-winning Automatic Post-Collision braking system is also included as standard.

Aesthetically, the new Amarok pick-up's front-end has a more athletic appearance while the interior is more sophisticated with a new dashboard, ergonomic seats and climatronic temperature control.
In terms of capacity, the new Amarok will accommodate a Europallet with ease - while payload capacity is over a tonne and towing ability has been raised to 3.5tonnes in line with the best in class.
