New Fiat Fiorino review

New Fiat Fiorino review

The Fiat Fiorino is the smallest van in Fiat's commercial vehicle range, sitting below the Doblo Cargo, Talento, Ducato and Fullback. It's a compact 'city van' designed for manoeuvrability and accessibility - especially in tight, busy urban areas.

Built alongside the Peugeot Bipper and Citroen Nemo, the Fiat Fiorino is essentially one of three 'triplets', distinguished mainly by the different badges adorning each van. They are virtually identical, although each manufacturer has used what it can to differentitate its model from the rest.

In the Fiat Fiorino's case, its advantage lies beneath the bonnet. The Fiorino offers the most powerful engine of the three with a 95ps power output.

Fiat Fiorino dimensions

Available as a standard panel van or surprisingly, a 'Combi' model - basically a crew van with rear seats. This does eat into the Fiat Fiorino's 2.5 cubic metres loadspace and 660kg payload. It's worth noting that the Combi's rear seats can be folded forward when not in use to make the most of the available loadspace.

Similarly, the passenger seat in the regular 'Cargo' version can be folded flat to extend the load length of the Fiorino from 1523mm to 2491mm. With a low loading sill at just 530mm, loading and unloading the Fiorino is easy. A sliding side door means it's accessible, too.

Fiat Fiorino economy

The entry-level 1.3-litre 80ps Multijet II diesel engine returns 64.2mpg, and is mated to a standard five-speed manual gearbox. CO2 emissions are as low as 115g/km. Thanks to its small size, the Fiat Fiorino has a footprint similar to a passenger car. As such, it also drives like one. Whether it's empty or fully laden, the Fiorino handles exceptionally well, negotiating corners with confidence.

Standard features include driving aids such as Electronic Stability Control, Hill Holder and a multi-use 'Fix & Go' tyre repair kit. SX models include a standard radio with Bluetooth connectivity and 5 inch touchscreen.
