As we celebrate 25 years of Vansdirect, we're looking back on some iconic events from 1999 when the home of new vans was born.
This year marks our 25th anniversary, and we can’t believe how quickly the time has gone!
Starting off as a small independent broker in the Welsh valleys, Vansdirect has grown to become top commercial vehicle retailer in the UK. Brought under the Vertu Motors Group in 2019, we now serve thousands of customers nationwide, helping them find the perfect new van.

Introduction of the Euro
On the 1st January 1999, the Euro was introduced. Originally used for accounting purposes, it would later form a staple of every British holiday abroad.
Y2K Panic
Known as the ‘2000 problem’, Y2K was a computer flaw or bug which was believed to cause problems with dates beyond 1999. Some believed it signalled the end of the world.
Cher named top artist of ’99 with ‘Believe’
The pop hit led the singer to be named top artist in 1999, followed by TLC’s ‘No Scrubs’ and Britney Spears’ ‘Baby One More Time’.
